COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State football team opens the season Sept. 2 in Minnesota. We have the top 50 players Ohio State will face on this 2021 schedule. Today, Michigan State’s Jacub Panasiuk:

# 31: Jacub Panasiuk, defensive end, Michigan State

6 feet 4 inches, 250 pounds, senior red shirt

Statistics 2020: 25 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one interrupted pass.

What he did : Panasiuk was Michigan State’s only return starter on the defensive line last season in a freshman under Mel Tucker. While he seemed ready for a year of escape after a strong offseason, he became a victim of COVID-19 and was never really able to recover. He lost 25 pounds before the start of the season and was never able to meet expectations.

“I didn’t think I played the way I should have,” Panasiuk told reporters after the season. “And I thought it was unfair to me and my teammates if I got up and left when I could use another year and come back and help the team.”

Now he’ll be looking to get back to where he was in 2019 when he recorded 34 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

How it can hurt the state of Ohio: Panasiuk has yet to register a sack in three games against Ohio State and has only managed to register five tackles. Three of which came in 2019. It won’t be easy for him to finally get that sack when the Spartans come to Columbus in late April.

He will face Thayer Munford and Nichols Petit-Frere, who have proven to be some of the best offensive tackling duos in the country.

Game Date: November 20, Ohio Stadium
