Tesla files new trademark application for Cyberquad, is it coming?

Do you remember the Tesla Cyberquad? Of course you do, but the problem is, we haven’t seen or heard much of it since it was featured during the Cybertruck’s unveiling in November 2019.

Well, it seems Tesla hasn’t forgotten that; On September 23, the electric vehicle maker filed a trademark application with the USPTO to use the name “Cyberquad”. Note that the request is not for the all-electric ATV – Tesla already registered the vehicle’s trademark in 2019 – but the clothing brand.

“The Cyberquad trademark filing is intended to cover clothing categories, namely t-shirts, jackets, hats; baby clothes; shoe; Pants.”

Still, this is Tesla’s first public initiative regarding the Cyberquad in a long time and suggests that the two-seater ATV launch is approaching. After all, the company would have little reason to sell Cyberquad-branded clothing without launching the vehicle first.

That said, there is no evidence that Tesla has, let alone testing, more Cyberquad prototypes. MTB has made a few event appearances since its unveiling, but that’s it.

When the Cyberquad first appeared in late 2019, the ATV took on the role of a perfect Cybertruck sidekick, sporting a matching design with flat surfaces, sharp edges and similar wheels. He was shown getting into the bed of the electric van and even charging there.

However, the specifications of the electric mountain bike were never released. The original prototype was actually a Yamaha Raptor ATV converted to electric with a Zero Motorcycle powertrain.

Now that the Cybertruck has been postponed until the end of 2022, it is likely that the Cyberquad will launch around the same time if Tesla is to offer the ATV as an option to buyers of the electric pickup.

The Tesla Cyberquad made headlines in May 2021 when HotWheels announced a 1:10 scale RC Cybertruck with a free-running Cyberquad.
