Unilateral authority should not impact freedoms

As verbose as my answer last week to the question about infrastructure posed by the MRT, the answer to this week’s question will be very short and to the point.

I will begin by letting everyone know that my wife, Beth and I were vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine when it was offered in February of this year. We have encouraged (not mandated) all of our employees to speak with their doctors and at least consider getting vaccinated, not only for their health and that of their families, but also for the health of those they come in contact with.

Will we have the Pfizer booster? This is still a question for us, and we will think about it after consulting our family doctor. I encouraged my vaccinated parents, who are in very good health and in their 40s, to see their family doctor about getting the booster at some point as well. My dad still plays a lot of golf and works the pro-shop window of his favorite municipal golf course in Mississippi, so he’s very exposed to the public.

There has been so much misinformation and just pure insane “information” being disseminated by the media about COVID, like who is at risk and who is not, remedies, vaccines, masks, closures, warrants, etc. I would block everything and just talk to people you trust, like a doctor, healthcare professional, or family doctor. They will know what is best for you and your family to stay protected against this highly contagious disease. I personally choose not to trust the advice of any doctor on television or the personalities who think they are doctors on television. I also do not seek the advice of any internet research, and I would encourage all Midlanders to do the same thing that I have chosen to do.

That being said, no president, governor, county judge, or mayor should have the unilateral power to mandate anything that takes away our personal freedoms, including mandating vaccines, business or school closures, or the wearing of masks without the approval of their respective legislation. body. If authority is granted by their respective legislative bodies to mandate any or all of the above, this should be done in consultation with medical professionals and economists who have the capacity to put politics aside when evaluating. the risks of shutting down our economy, the damage to our children, and the general well-being of all Americans.

A vote for Scott Dufford is a vote for the protection of freedom and choice.
